Mr Justice William A. Esson

Mr Justice William Arthur Esson, B.A., LLB, was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1930, and educated there.He graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School in 1957.

He was called to the Bar in May 1958.He practised from then until 1979 with Bull Housser & Tupper. In February 1979 he was appointed to the Supreme Court of British Columbia (then the senior trial court in the province).  He was appointed to the Court of Appeal for British Columbia in April 1983; Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia from 1989 to 1996 and in September 1996 he was reappointed to the Court of Appeal for British Columbia from which he retired in 2005.

Mr Justice Esson was appointed as a reserve member of the Tribunal with effect from 20 November 2000. On 21 August 2001 it was announced that Mr Justice Esson had resigned as a reserve member of the Tribunal for health reasons
